Our Purpose is to make the world a better place by lessening the devastation caused by addiction through:
- Participating in recovery-related activities and maintaining support of the Recovery Movement.
- Mobilizing and organizing to raise the profile of the recovery community which helps more people find recovery by demonstrating that over 23 million Americans from all walks of life have found recovery.
- Promoting widespread understanding that long-term recovery is a reality and a process that takes time and support.
- Promoting and encouraging competency with the peer recovery workforce.
- Building the capacity of recovery community organizations to thrive and participate in local, state and national policy arenas, by delivering peer recovery support services; and mobilizing the local recovery community.
- Addressing public policy that honors an individual’s right to self-determinacy of health and to reduce the discrimination that keeps people from seeking recovery or moving on to better lives once they achieve it.
- Obtaining support for individuals seeking medication assisted recovery services and support recovery-oriented policies and programs.
- Providing guidance and insight on recovery-related issues to the legislature and regulatory agencies.
